The bright spot of your day....
May 18, 2015
When I teach Parenting by Connection, I like to open each class or group by asking everyone to share something that's going well, a bright spot in their week.
As parents we can often focus on all the things that are not going well, the problems that we are trying to fix, the things we are worried about. These things all have their place - particularly in a Parenting by Connection group, where the huge, emotional job of parenting is recognised and acknowledged! But it's also important to balance that with a little attention on the good things.
So what's your bright spot for the week? What's one thing that's going well, or that you enjoyed? This could be about anything in your life, not just your parenting.
My bright spots over the past few days have been seeing my two children hug each other, really enjoying each other. It's not always like that! Another bright spot was having a moment to myself to be in my garden and plant some new seedlings, feeling present. And another was hearing my two children laugh so hard they could barely stop, as my husband played a game with them.
These moments are everyday, they aren't outstanding in their own right..... but they are amazing, because it's these moments that keep our hearts fulfilled, our love flowing and our presence present! Here's my colourful creative bright spot for you! I so enjoyed making it (another bright spot for me!).

I'd love to hear your bright spots too, if you feel like sharing by email or posting them on my facebook page.
Here's to finding a bright spot in every day!
With warmth,
Lyra
